B.S.L. LEVEL ONE OPEN EVENING 3RD APRIL @7PM AT BURY DEAF SOCIETY

 

                            British Sign Language Level 1

This course is a Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People (Signature) nationally recognized certificate.

 

Comprehension:- Receptive Skills

Production Skills

Conversation Skills

 

                                 Topic covered include:-

 

Unit 101:- Meeting people, Using Numbers 1-10, Weather/Modification, 

                    Transports, Prepositions, Directions & Placement

Unit 102:-  At home- people, animals & objects, using numbers 1-100,

                   Interest & Activities, Refreshments & Weather.

Unit 103:- Getting around, Exchanging information, Refreshments link

                   work/college/school, building & placements

 

The course cost is £300 payable at the beginning of the course  the exam fees is already included.  You can pay in installments of £20 per week.

  The Length of the course is 50 hours. (2 hours per week for 26 weeks)

  Support Workers with British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1, 2 & 3

 We urgently require Support Workers which are skilled in British Sign Language (BSL) in the Rochdale area. We’re putting people with a learning disability and Mental Health firmly in control of their own support- shaping our services to ensure each individual can achieve the things they really want, you’ll help makes this a reality. Some of whom have complex support needs to live the lives they choose. And with your clients in control, it’s very likely that no two days will ever be the same.

 Flexibility and communication skills are therefore essential, along with patience and motivation.

It is rewarding, varied work and we offer an exceptional personal training and development opportunities.

 You will be offered the prospect of working varied shifts, including nights and weekend work.

 Experience in support work will help but not necessary as training will be provided.

Social Evening Christmas Party – 2011

The Bury Deaf Society Social Evening Christmas Party was held between 6-9pm on Wednesday 21st December.

It was a great chance for everybody to get together and enjoy some lovely food and company. We also held a bingo and raffle that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Looking forward to an even bigger better bash for Christmas 2012!

Ladies Craft Event – November 2011

In November 2011 we held one of our highly successful bi-annual Ladies Craft Event weekends.

These are an excellent opportunity for ladies to take part in craftwork, sewing, card making, jewellery making and other crafts. Participants get the chance to meet new friends, learn a craft, interact with the deaf community and enjoy the refreshments we put on.

Gannett Foundation Grant

Bury Deaf Society is very pleased to announce we have received a £4,600 grant from the Gannett Foundation.

Christmas Dinner!

The annual Adult Society Christmas Dinner will take place this year on Wednesday 7th December and we would love it if you could join us for some festive fun!

The dinner will consist of a starter, Christmas lunch and a sweet, at a price of £2 per person.
